Description

The poster depicting Villefranche-sur-Mer captures the essence of this picturesque town on the French Riviera, famous for its narrow, colorful streets leading down to the harbor. Located between Nice and Monaco, Villefranche-sur-Mer is a town steeped in history, with origins dating back to Roman times. Founded in 1295 by Charles II of Anjou, this town has long been coveted for its natural harbor, one of the deepest in the Mediterranean, providing safe shelter for ships and fleets. Over the centuries, Villefranche-sur-Mer has been influenced by various cultures, including Italian, Provençal, and Savoyard, which is reflected in its architecture and cultural heritage. The town also played an important strategic role, serving as a naval base for the fleet of the Dukes of Savoy and, later, for the French Navy. The Citadel of Saint-Elme, built in the 16th century, is a testament to this military importance.

Today, Villefranche-sur-Mer is a popular destination, known for its authentic charm, pastel-colored houses, cobbled streets, and Provençal ambiance. The famous Rue Obscure, a vaulted alleyway dating back to the Middle Ages, is one of the town's hidden gems, offering a glimpse into the region's medieval past. Leading down to the harbor, this street leads visitors to the heart of Villefranche-sur-Mer , home to the Port de la Darse, once a shipyard, now a marina welcoming yachts from around the world. The harbor, lined with restaurants and cafes, is the perfect place to admire the boats and enjoy breathtaking views of Villefranche-sur-Mer harbor, one of the most beautiful bays in the world. This poster is an invitation to discover or rediscover the timeless beauty of Villefranche-sur-Mer , a town where time seems to have stood still, preserving its heritage and its unique atmosphere.

Hi, I'm Lotza.

The illustrator

Hi, I'm Lisa and I illustrate all the posters you can find in this online store.

I draw the posters on Illustrator using a pen, a vector drawing tool.
My illustrations are not transformed photos, called "vectorized" in the jargon. I choose my destinations myself; I am currently working on my Tour de France.

To create an illustration, I often use photos from my travels or royalty-free photos for commercial use in order to remain faithful to reality and I take the liberty of modifying the design and layout.

I also base my work on my drawings, which I scan and redraw on Illustrator; this is especially the case for my portraits of women.
