Description

This poster by Lotza perfectly captures the spirit of Jazz , featuring a mesmerizing saxophonist playing his heart out on stage. Jazz originated in the early 20th century in the American South, specifically in New Orleans. It was a fusion of African and European music, which evolved over time to incorporate elements of blues, ragtime, and swing.

Jazz pioneers include musicians such as Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Charlie Parker, and Miles Davis, who helped popularize the genre worldwide. Over the years, jazz has evolved into various subgenres such as bebop, cool jazz, free jazz, and jazz fusion.

Jazz is more than just music; it's a cultural and social movement that has played an important role in American history by combating racial discrimination and promoting freedom of artistic expression. Today, jazz is enjoyed worldwide and continues to inspire new generations of musicians and artists, as this illustration by Lotza illustrates.

Lotza Poster – A vibrant tribute to the world of Jazz

With this masterful illustration, Lotza immerses us in the captivating world of jazz, a musical genre that is both timeless and deeply rooted in the cultural history of the 20th century. The image depicts a passionate saxophonist, absorbed by the melody he is creating, in a hushed atmosphere where the warm light seems to dance on each note. We feel all the raw emotion and freedom of improvisation that have defined jazz since its origins.

Born in New Orleans at the beginning of the 20th century, at the crossroads of African and European influences, jazz quickly conquered America, and then the entire world. It took shape in the lively streets, modest clubs, and improvised stages of Louisiana, drawing on blues, gospel, ragtime, and popular brass bands. This universal musical language, fueled by pain and hope, has become a symbol of emancipation and resilience.

The history of jazz is closely linked to its legendary figures. Icons like Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Billie Holiday, Charlie Parker, Thelonious Monk, and Miles Davis have shaken up the codes, enriched the style, and propelled jazz to the rank of major art. Each of them left their own sonic imprint, giving rise to movements as diverse as swing, bebop, cool jazz, and jazz fusion.

But beyond music, jazz has always been a vehicle for social change. It accompanied the struggles for civil rights, carrying the voice of freedom and unfettered creativity. On stage as in life, it broke down racial barriers, united cultures, and celebrated individuality. Today, it remains a pillar of contemporary artistic expression, an inexhaustible source of inspiration for many generations.

Lotza's poster is much more than a simple visual representation. It's an immersion in that singular energy, that tension between rhythmic rigor and harmonic freedom that makes jazz a music apart. The dark and warm colors, the play of light and shadow, the concentrated attitude of the musician: everything evokes the intimacy of a nocturnal concert, the vibrations of the instruments, the magic of the suspended moment.

Carefully printed in France, this poster is aimed at both discerning music lovers and enthusiasts of inspired decor. It will fit equally well in a modern living room, a music studio, a creative workspace, or a listening room. It embodies an entire chapter of musical history, while bringing an elegant and expressive touch to your interior.

Treat yourself to a slice of the soul of jazz. With this Lotza creation, all the warmth of a Harlem club, the intensity of a saxophone solo, and the legacy of a century of music enter your everyday life.

Hi, I'm Lotza.

The illustrator

Hi, I'm Lisa and I illustrate all the posters you can find in this online store.

I draw the posters on Illustrator using a pen, a vector drawing tool.
My illustrations are not transformed photos, called "vectorized" in the jargon. I choose my destinations myself; I am currently working on my Tour de France.

To create an illustration, I often use photos from my travels or royalty-free photos for commercial use in order to remain faithful to reality and I take the liberty of modifying the design and layout.

I also base my work on my drawings, which I scan and redraw on Illustrator; this is especially the case for my portraits of women.
