Description

This original illustration by Lotza depicts the charming town of Saint-Pierre d'Oléron with its famous colorful cabins. The brightly colored wooden houses, typical of the region, line the harbor and bring a touch of cheerfulness to this charming town.

The history of Acer dates back to ancient times, when the Romans discovered the island of Oléron and began exploiting it for its salt. Over the centuries, the town became a thriving fishing and trading center, with a thriving fleet of fishing boats trading fish with neighboring towns and inland regions.

In the 19th century, the island of Oléron became a popular holiday destination for the region's bourgeois families. The town of Saint-Pierre d'Oléron then experienced a new boom, with the construction of villas and holiday homes to accommodate tourists. Since then, the town has preserved its charm and authenticity while adapting to the needs of its visitors.

This postcard from Lotza is a true tribute to the beauty and history of Saint-Pierre d'Oléron, a town that is absolutely worth discovering for its colorful houses, picturesque streets and friendly atmosphere.

Postcard from Saint-Pierre d'Oléron – Illustration of the colorful huts by Lotza

Bring a touch of island charm to your decor with this postcard illustrated by Lotza, which captures all the poetry of Saint-Pierre d'Oléron, the vibrant heart of the island of Oléron. This work pays homage to the famous colorful huts of the port, true icons of the local landscape, which evoke the maritime spirit, the oyster farming tradition and the authenticity of Charente-Maritime.

Nestled on the largest island on the French Atlantic coast, Saint-Pierre d'Oléron charms visitors with its picturesque streets, lively markets, and, of course, its brightly colored wooden huts lining the harbor. Once used by oyster farmers and fishermen to store their tools, these huts have now become artisan workshops and living spaces, reflecting the city's cultural dynamism.

The history of Saint-Pierre d'Oléron dates back to Roman times, when the island was exploited for its salt production. Later, the town became a major center for fishing and maritime trade. From the 19th century onward, it experienced a significant tourist boom, attracting wealthy families who came to enjoy the gentle coastline. Even today, it maintains a harmonious balance between tradition and modernity.

In this illustration, Lotza subtly captures the joyful and colorful atmosphere of this iconic location. The cabins, the sailboats, the late afternoon light: every detail invites discovery, strolling, and escape.

Carefully printed in Charente, this postcard is much more than a simple souvenir: it is a graphic celebration of the island of Oléron, its maritime heritage, and its unique identity. An ideal piece for lovers of the sea, regional heritage, and the authentic landscapes of the Atlantic coast.

Hi, I'm Lotza!

The illustrator

Hi, I'm Lisa and I illustrate all the posters you can find in this online store.

I draw the posters on Illustrator using a pen, a vector drawing tool.
My illustrations are not transformed photos, called "vectorized" in the jargon. I choose my destinations myself; I am currently working on my Tour de France.

To create an illustration, I often use photos from my travels or royalty-free photos for commercial use in order to remain faithful to reality and I take the liberty of modifying the design and layout.

I also base my work on my drawings, which I scan and redraw on Illustrator; this is especially the case for my portraits of women.
