Illustration of Quimper by Lotza – A vibrant tribute to historic Brittany

Bring a touch of character and authenticity to your home with this magnificent illustration of Quimper by Lotza. Known for her delicate and evocative style, the artist captures the soul of one of the oldest and most charming Breton cities, nestled in the heart of Finistère.

This work subtly illustrates the picturesque streets of Quimper, lined with colorful half-timbered houses, flower-filled medieval facades, and crossed by the tranquil waters of the Odet. The illustration pays homage to the city as we discover it while strolling: authentic, warm, and steeped in history.

Founded in the Gallo-Roman era, Quimper takes its name from the confluence of the Steïr and Odet rivers (from the Breton "kemper" meaning "confluence"). Very early on, it became a major religious center, the seat of a bishopric from the 5th century, then the capital of the former county of Cornouaille. The centuries that followed shaped its current appearance: Gothic Saint-Corentin cathedral, ramparts, stone bridges, winding alleys and corbelled houses.

The city has been marked by conflicts, epidemics, and revolts, but also by intense artisanal and commercial activity. Even today, Quimper is renowned for its pottery, with the famous Quimper earthenware featuring floral or folkloric motifs, a skill passed down since the 17th century.

But Quimper is also a beating heart of contemporary Breton culture. The Cornouaille Festival, which brings the city to life every summer, brings together artists who come to celebrate Brittany's musical, sartorial, and culinary traditions. Bell ringers, dancers, and singers in traditional costume bring the streets of the old town to life in a festive and friendly atmosphere.

Lotza's illustration captures this precious duality: between ancient heritage and modern vitality. It is a visual tribute to this city of art and history, where every stone tells a story and every detail evokes the inhabitants' deep attachment to their land.

Printed on high-quality paper, this postcard is perfect for framing, gifting, or collecting. It is carefully shipped in a bubble envelope for protection.

Whether you are a heritage enthusiast, a lover of Brittany or simply sensitive to the beauty of cities with a rich past, this illustration of Quimper is a graphic journey that you will want to take and repeat.

Hi, I'm Lotza!

The illustrator

Hi, I'm Lisa and I illustrate all the posters you can find in this online store.

I draw the posters on Illustrator using a pen, a vector drawing tool.
My illustrations are not transformed photos, called "vectorized" in the jargon. I choose my destinations myself; I am currently working on my Tour de France.

To create an illustration, I often use photos from my travels or royalty-free photos for commercial use in order to remain faithful to reality and I take the liberty of modifying the design and layout.

I also base my work on my drawings, which I scan and redraw on Illustrator; this is especially the case for my portraits of women.
