Description

Located at the entrance to the Gironde estuary, the La Coubre Lighthouse stands proudly facing the Atlantic, guiding seafarers for over a century. Its slender architecture, marked by its vibrant red contrasting with the immaculate white of its base, makes it a landmark of the Charente coast. Overlooking the golden sand dunes, it overlooks a landscape shaped by wind and tides, offering an exceptional panorama of the ocean and the surrounding forest.

Built in 1905 to secure a maritime area feared by sailors, the La Coubre Lighthouse bears witness to the turbulent history of navigation in this region. Its beam of light, visible for over 50 kilometers, continues to ensure the safety of vessels along the coast. Over the decades, it has become an iconic symbol of Charente-Maritime, attracting visitors and maritime history enthusiasts.

With an aesthetic inspired by Art Deco posters, Lotza captures in this postcard the timeless elegance of the lighthouse and the unique atmosphere of the Atlantic coast. The composition, clean and dynamic, highlights the power and serenity of this structure in the face of the elements. A graphic evocation of the wild beauty of the coast, between land and sea, where every detail recalls the importance of this luminous giant in French maritime heritage.

Postcard of the La Coubre Lighthouse – A jewel of the Charente coast, designed by Lotza

An essential symbol of Charente-Maritime

Located on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, at the entrance to the Gironde estuary, the La Coubre Lighthouse. It stands like a guardian of time and the tides. Built in 1905, it marks the maritime history of the region by securing one of the most feared passages of the Atlantic coast. Its characteristic silhouette, painted in red and white, has become one of the most emblematic symbols of the Charente coast.

A historical monument between forest, ocean and dunes

The lighthouse overlooks the blond sand dunes, the pine forests of La Coubre, and the immensity of the ocean. From its height of 64 meters, it offers a breathtaking panorama of the Arvert peninsula, the Côte Sauvage beach, and sometimes, in clear weather, even the island of Oléron. A true visual and emotional landmark, it fascinates both visitors and sailors.

An Art Deco aesthetic revisited by Lotza

Inspired by vintage posters from the 20th century, the creation of Lotza sublimates the lighthouse in an elegant, clean, and contemporary graphic composition. The bright red of the tower contrasts with the deep blue of the ocean and the golden beige of the sand, accentuating the majestic verticality of the structure. This postcard blends nostalgia and modernity, both a tribute to the past and a look towards the future.

A lighthouse serving navigation for over 100 years.

Erected as a result of the constant receding of the coastline, the La Coubre Lighthouse it still watches over sailors thanks to its luminous range of more than 50 kilometers. Its primary function as a maritime safety beacon has remained intact, while its cultural and tourist appeal has continued to grow. Every year, it attracts thousands of visitors, eager to discover this luminous giant and its history.

Hi, I'm Lotza.

The illustrator

Hi, I'm Lisa and I illustrate all the posters you can find in this online store.

I draw the posters on Illustrator using a pen, a vector drawing tool.
My illustrations are not transformed photos, called "vectorized" in the jargon. I choose my destinations myself; I am currently working on my Tour de France.

To create an illustration, I often use photos from my travels or royalty-free photos for commercial use in order to remain faithful to reality and I take the liberty of modifying the design and layout.

I also base my work on my drawings, which I scan and redraw on Illustrator; this is especially the case for my portraits of women.
