Description

This illustration by Lotza depicts the famous Margarita cocktail, a mixology classic made with tequila, lime juice, and orange liqueur.

The history of the Margarita is shrouded in mystery and many anecdotes, but the most common is that the cocktail was created in the 1930s or 1940s in the Mexican city of Tijuana. According to this story, a young woman named Margarita ordered a cocktail at a local bar, and the bartender, unsure what to serve her, improvised the mixture of tequila, lime juice, and triple sec we know today.

Other stories suggest that the Margarita was created by a Texan bartender in the 1940s, or that the cocktail was invented by Americans vacationing in Mexico in the 1930s.

Whatever its exact origin, there's no denying that the Margarita has become a classic of Mexican culture and global mixology, with many creative variations and new ingredients added over the years. And this illustration by Lotza perfectly captures the festive, sunny atmosphere associated with this iconic cocktail.

Hi, I'm Lotza!

The illustrator

Hi, I'm Lisa and I illustrate all the posters you can find in this online store.

I draw the posters on Illustrator using a pen, a vector drawing tool.
My illustrations are not transformed photos, called "vectorized" in the jargon. I choose my destinations myself; I am currently working on my Tour de France.

To create an illustration, I often use photos from my travels or royalty-free photos for commercial use in order to remain faithful to reality and I take the liberty of modifying the design and layout.

I also base my work on my drawings, which I scan and redraw on Illustrator; this is especially the case for my portraits of women.
