Description

This postcard pays tribute to the Old Port of La Rochelle , an emblematic place steeped in history and deeply rooted in the identity of this city on the Atlantic coast. Since the Middle Ages, the port has been the beating heart of La Rochelle, serving as a strategic point for maritime trade, particularly with the West Indies and Canada. Lined with lively quays, arcaded houses and lively cafés, the port still attracts visitors and locals today, seduced by its unique charm and friendly atmosphere.

In this composition, Lotza chooses to represent the red and white lighthouse, the colorful market halls and the Ferris wheel that punctuates the tourist seasons, as so many familiar visual landmarks for those who know La Rochelle. Through this luminous and peaceful view, the artist captures the balance between heritage and modernity, between the weight of history and the sweetness of everyday life. The Old Port of La Rochelle is not just a setting, it is a living memory, witness to distant departures as well as simple reunions at the market or a walk at the end of the day.

With this work, Lotza offers an immersion into the maritime soul of the city, without artifice, at human height. A tranquil, almost silent scene, where the gaze can rest and remember. Whether one is from here or elsewhere, this landscape evokes the call of the ocean, the hospitality of La Rochelle, and the discreet beauty of the ancient ports still inhabited.

Hi, I'm Lotza!

The illustrator

Hi, I'm Lisa and I illustrate all the posters you can find in this online store.

I draw the posters on Illustrator using a pen, a vector drawing tool.
My illustrations are not transformed photos, called "vectorized" in the jargon. I choose my destinations myself; I am currently working on my Tour de France.

To create an illustration, I often use photos from my travels or royalty-free photos for commercial use in order to remain faithful to reality and I take the liberty of modifying the design and layout.

I also base my work on my drawings, which I scan and redraw on Illustrator; this is especially the case for my portraits of women.
