Description

The Dune of Pilat is a sand dune located on the Atlantic coast of France, near the city  Arcachon in Aquitaine. It is one of the largest sand dunes in Europe, measuring over 100 meters high and stretching over 2 km long. The Dune of Pilat was formed over the centuries by sea winds and ocean currents, which carried sand from nearby beaches to this site. The sand accumulates in this area because the surrounding cliffs restrict wind circulation, allowing the dune to form.

Today, the Dune of Pilat is a popular tourist attraction, attracting thousands of visitors each year. Visitors can climb the dune to enjoy panoramic views of the sea and surrounding forests, or relax on the beach at the base of the dune. There are also many outdoor activities available, such as hiking, surfing, kite flying, and cycling. Due to its ecological importance and popularity with tourists, the Dune of Pilat has been protected as a natural site and has been a nature reserve since 2008. Efforts are being made to preserve the dune's biodiversity and minimize the human impact on this unique and fragile site.

Dune du Pilat Poster – Poetic illustration of the highest dune in Europe by Lotza

An emblematic natural monument of the Atlantic coast, theDune of Pilatrises majestically facing the ocean, in the heart of theArcachon basin, in New Aquitaine. In this illustration signedLotza, the artist captures all the grandeur and serenity of this unique site in Europe, where thegolden sand ripples in the wind, offering a constantly renewed spectacle.

With his110 meters high, his2.7 kilometers longand its breathtaking panoramas, the Dune of Pilat fascinates as much as it soothes. Thissea of shifting sand, formed by the joint action of wind and tides, is one of the most visited natural sites in France. From its summit, the view extends over theAtlantic Ocean, thereLandes forest, and in clear weather, up tothe Gironde estuaryA striking landscape that inspires contemplation and freedom.

This illustrated postcard is much more than a souvenir: it isan ode to wild nature, with its changing light, the meeting between sea, sky and forest. It evokes the sensory experience of a barefoot ascent in the warm sand, the sea breeze on the face, and the contemplative silence facing the immensity.

Hi, I'm Lotza!

The illustrator

Hi, I'm Lisa and I illustrate all the posters you can find in this online store.

I draw the posters on Illustrator using a pen, a vector drawing tool.
My illustrations are not transformed photos, called "vectorized" in the jargon. I choose my destinations myself; I am currently working on my Tour de France.

To create an illustration, I often use photos from my travels or royalty-free photos for commercial use in order to remain faithful to reality and I take the liberty of modifying the design and layout.

I also base my work on my drawings, which I scan and redraw on Illustrator; this is especially the case for my portraits of women.
