This postcard from Lotza perfectly captures the vibrant and colorful spirit of Lisbon , the Portuguese capital. The bustling and colorful streets are a distinctive feature of this city, which is known for its quaint charm and rich, complex history.

Lisbon was founded by the Phoenicians over 3,000 years ago and has since become an important cultural and economic hub for Portugal. For centuries, it was one of the world's leading port cities, welcoming ships from all over the globe.

Lisbon's heritage is reflected in its unique architecture, with Moorish, Gothic, and Renaissance influences throughout the city's historic center. The city is also known for its famous tram, which transports locals and tourists alike through the city's winding streets.

But Lisbon isn't just looking back to the past—it's also a vibrant, modern city with a vibrant cultural scene and delicious cuisine. The city is also famous for its traditional music, fado, which dates back to the early 19th century.

At the heart of the composition, we can guess the famouscolorful facades, THEbright azulejos, THEsloping cobblestone streetsand, of course, theyellow tramwinding its way through historic neighborhoods like Alfama and Bairro Alto. Each element evokes the solar energy and timeless charm of Lisbon, a city facing the Atlantic and open to the world for over 3,000 years.

Founded by the Phoenicians, shaped by the Romans, the Moors, then the kings of Portugal,Lisbon is a crossroads of culturesWe find Moorish, Gothic and Baroque influences, a richness that Lotza translates here through a play of soft lines and luminous contrasts.

But Lisbon does not only live in its stones: it also beats through itsmusic, hermelancholic fado, hisgenerous gastronomyand hisart of livingfacing the sea. The illustration gently captures this excitement, like an invitation to stroll through the alleys or stop for a coffee on a terrace.

Hi, I'm Lotza!

The illustrator

Hi, I'm Lisa and I illustrate all the posters you can find in this online store.

I draw the posters on Illustrator using a pen, a vector drawing tool.
My illustrations are not transformed photos, called "vectorized" in the jargon. I choose my destinations myself; I am currently working on my Tour de France.

To create an illustration, I often use photos from my travels or royalty-free photos for commercial use in order to remain faithful to reality and I take the liberty of modifying the design and layout.

I also base my work on my drawings, which I scan and redraw on Illustrator; this is especially the case for my portraits of women.
