The Roaring Twenties, also known as the 1920s, were a time of great excitement for the Champagne region of France. This period coincided with a period of economic prosperity and social liberalization in many countries, and Champagne played an important role in the culture of the time.
Champagne was considered a symbol of luxury and sophistication, and was widely associated with nightlife and parties. The most prestigious champagne houses flourished and began to design more sophisticated and elegant champagne bottles for the wealthy. Charity balls, private parties, and jazz clubs were all venues where champagne was widely consumed.

Additionally, champagne was also consumed on luxury airplanes and trains, contributing to its reputation as a drink for travelers and explorers. Many movie stars and celebrities of the time also consumed champagne, further cementing its reputation as a drink for the wealthy.
In short, the Roaring Twenties were a time of great excitement for the Champagne region of France, and champagne played an important role in the culture of the time. This period established champagne as the most prestigious and beloved drink in the world, and it is still considered a symbol of luxury and sophistication today.

The history of Champagne and its region dates back centuries. The Champagne region of France is known for its vineyards and for producing one of the most prestigious wines in the world: Champagne.
The history of Champagne begins in the 17th century, when winemakers in the region began producing sparkling wine using artisanal methods. This wine was called "vin mousseux" at the time. Over the years, production methods evolved, and winemakers began using more sophisticated techniques to control fermentation and produce a more consistent, higher-quality wine.
However, it wasn't until the 19th century that champagne truly became famous. The first closed-vat production methods, which allowed for controlled fermentation, were also developed during this time.
In 1911, " Champagne " was defined as an Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée, which guaranteed that only wines produced in the region could be called "champagne." This definition also established strict standards for production, quality, and winemaking methods for wines produced in the region.

Today, Champagne is considered one of the most prestigious and prized wines in the world, and the Champagne region of France continues to produce high-quality wines that are appreciated worldwide. Champagne production is an important economic sector for the region, and the region's vineyards attract thousands of tourists from around the world each year.

Champagne Poster

This poster pays homage to the golden age of champagne during the Roaring Twenties, a period of freedom, celebration, and artistic renewal that marked the 1920s. Through an elegant and timeless aesthetic, it evokes the sophistication and effervescence of this legendary decade when champagne established itself as the ultimate symbol of luxury and joie de vivre.

In the wake of the First World War, the 1920s saw the emergence of a new society eager for pleasure, modern experiences, and grandiose celebrations. It was in this context that champagne established itself as the drink of exceptional moments: served in the salons of the elite, on the tables of Parisian jazz clubs, in the carriages of luxury trains, and even aboard the first commercial airliners. It was the perfect companion for high-society parties, extravagant balls, Gatsby soirées, and private receptions where crystal glasses clinked to the rhythm of the Charleston.

The great Champagne houses then experienced unprecedented growth. They refined their expertise, redesigned their bottles, and perfected their winemaking techniques to meet the demands of an ever-more demanding cosmopolitan public. Champagne became the icon of a modern art de vivre, bolstered by the aura of artists, silent film stars, cabaret dancers, and influential figures who made it their drink of choice.

But this glamorous story also has deep roots. Since the 17th century, the region's winemakers have transformed their hilly terroir into an exceptional winemaking heritage. Starting with still wine, they gradually mastered the art of secondary fermentation in the bottle, giving rise to a sparkling wine with fine bubbles and remarkable aromatic complexity. This expertise, passed down from generation to generation, led to the official recognition of Champagne as an Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (Controlled Designation of Origin) in 1911, guaranteeing the authenticity and quality of the product.

Even today, champagne embodies celebration, elegance, and French excellence. This poster traces this unique rise, between winemaking tradition and festive modernity. It is an invitation to rediscover the world of Champagne, its vineyard landscapes, its centuries-old cellars, and its exceptional bottles that bring sparkle to life's greatest moments. Whether given as a gift or displayed, it is a refined nod to an era when celebration was an art and each sip of champagne told a story.

Hi, I'm Lotza.

The illustrator

Hi, I'm Lisa and I illustrate all the posters you can find in this online store.

I draw the posters on Illustrator using a pen, a vector drawing tool.
My illustrations are not transformed photos, called "vectorized" in the jargon. I choose my destinations myself; I am currently working on my Tour de France.

To create an illustration, I often use photos from my travels or royalty-free photos for commercial use in order to remain faithful to reality and I take the liberty of modifying the design and layout.

I also base my work on my drawings, which I scan and redraw on Illustrator; this is especially the case for my portraits of women.
